In order for Coolibah to do all the cool things it’s capable of, it needs processing memory. Unfortunately, the iPhone and the iPad have a very limited processing memory. So, there are limitations that we have to work with.
When you have apps open and running in the background they use up processing memory. If Coolbah doesn’t have enough processing memory to process your actions then it will crash. We’ve done everything on our end to prevent these crashes and use as little processing memory as possible such as optimize graphics, cache images.. etc.
To free up as much processing memory as possible we recommend closing all apps running in the background. This will help to prevent crashing issues.
If you don’t know how to check to see what apps are running and how to close them, then here are the instructions:
- Start from the home screen on your iPad.
- Double tap the home button on the iPad.
- This will open up a dock at the bottom of the screen.
- All the apps shown in the dock are currently running.
To close an app:
- Tap and hold on the icon (just like deleting an app from your iPad).
- It will start shaking.
- Tap on the “-”.
- Now the app is completely closed and not running in the background using up processing memory.
If that does not solve the crashing issue then here are a few things you can try that may fix the crash you’re experiencing:
- Sync your iPad with iTunes.
- Check to make sure you have the most current update installed on your iPad.
- Check to make sure you have the most current update of Coolibah installed on your iPad (Check the “updates” section in the App Store on the iPad. If you don’t see Coolibah in that section then you have the most current update).
- Turn your iPad off and back on.
Usually, this is related to a lack of memory processing issue. Unfortunately, the iPhone and the iPad have a very limited processing memory. So, there are limitations that we have to work with.

Most users who are having trouble with photos showing up small and blurry have imported them through iTunes. iTunes automatically re-sizes all photos during the import process, reducing them in size. This is great for saving space on your device but not so great for creating print quality scrapbook pages with Coolibah.
Coolibah was built from the ground up with high resolution printing in mind. So, the pages you’re working on are actually very large. We always recommend using iPhone size (1200 x 1600 px) or larger photos.
But what if you have high-resolution photo on your computer that you’d like to use on Coolibah. Then, we suggest bypassing iTunes to get them on your device. There are a few different ways to do that.
- Email the photo to yourself > open it on your device > save to your device
- Upload to a photo hosting website (flickr, photobucket.. etc.) > access your account on your device > save photo to your device
Alternatively, there’s an app a Coolibah user told us about. It’s called iResize. It does cost .99 but in our opinion it’s well worth it. It allows you to take small photos and resize them bigger.. it’s pretty amazing!
Of course not! That wouldn’t be very fair, would it? Once you purchase a kit you can use it on all your devices. To make it quick and easy we’ve set up a “Register” feature. What you’ll need to do is register all of your devices through Coolibah using the SAME email address. This tells Coolibah what devices belong to you. After you register, all your kits will show up on the “My Kits” screen on all your devices.

To Register:
- Open Coolibah
- Tap on the information button (bottom right… it’s an “i” inside a circle)
- Tap on “Register”
- Enter your email address (use the SAME email address when registering all your devices)
- Tap “Register Me”
That’s it! We only use your email address to link your devices. We won’t do any of that silly stuff like sell or share your email address.
The “My Kits” screen is used to show you what kits you’ve downloaded from the Gallery. To use your kits, you first have to tell Coolibah if you’d like to start a new book or add a page to an existing book.
- Go to your “My Books” screen
- If you’d like to start a new book, tap on the “+” button on the bottom left
- If you’d like to add a page to a book, scroll to the book, tap on the “+” button on the bottom left, select “add a page to this scrapbook”
This will open up the edit screen. On the edit screen you’ll be able to access all the background papers, elements and frames from all your kits.
All of the FREE kits are located in the “Gallery”. We do not pre-install the free kits with the app because we feel it’s important to give our users the option to choose what kits they’d like to download and store on their device.
To access the Gallery:
- Open Coolibah
- Tap on “Gallery” at the bottom of the screen
The Free kits are mixed in with the paid kits. As you scroll through the Gallery you’ll notice that all the free kits have a little blue flag in the top left corner with the words “FREE” displayed. You’ll also notice a little gift box icon in the top right corner. Once you find a free kit you’d like to download to your device, tap on it. This will open up the preview screen. The preview screen displays a preview of the kit contents. Tap on “download” to download the kit to your device.
Unfortunately, the answer at this time is no. The file size of the papers are pretty large. If we were to allow more than one background paper at a time it would significantly slow down Coolibah. We do realize layering papers is a big part of scrapbooking. So, we are discussing different solutions. Before we roll it out in an update we want to make sure it’s the right solution for long term.
To rotate photos, elements and frames:
- Tap on the photo, element or frame you’d like to rotate (it will turn yellow to tell you it’s selected)
- Place 3 fingers on your screen. You can place them anywhere on the screen. They do not have to touch the item you’re rotating.
- Rotate your fingers in the direction you’d like to rotate the item.
When you export your book or page a copy will be sent to your Photo Album on your device. Once there, you can treat it just like you do any other photo. You can download to your computer, email or text to friends, upload to social networking sites…. etc.
Try tapping directly in the center of the frames. There is a hot spot that many of the frame edges fall outside of.
